About MIDI Hub
MIDI Hub is Papiano's community feed of shared MIDI files. Upload a song, tag its difficulty and genre, and other players can search, like, comment, and jump straight into the Piano Visualizer or Learn Song mode to play or practice it. MIDI file uploads are always free — no transcription needed.
A MIDI file is not audio: it stores the notes themselves — which key, how hard, and exactly when — so Papiano can redraw the same song as falling notes, drive a step-by-step lesson from it, or turn it into a QWERTY sheet, all from the one upload. That is why anything posted here is exact rather than transcribed, and why it costs nothing to play: there is no audio for Papiano to analyse and guess at.
The feed itself needs a free account, which is what keeps uploads attributable and reports actionable. Everything a song can be loaded into afterwards is free.
What is a MIDI file, and why does Papiano use them?
A MIDI file stores musical instructions rather than recorded sound — which note is played, how hard, and at what moment. Because Papiano gets the notes themselves, it can render a song as falling notes, wait for you on each key in Learn Song, or print it as a QWERTY sheet, all from the same file and with no transcription guesswork.
Do I need an account to use MIDI Hub?
Yes — browsing the feed, uploading, liking, and commenting all need a free Papiano account, which is what keeps uploads attributable and reports actionable. Playing a song afterwards in the Piano Visualizer or Learn Song is free, and Solo Piano needs no account at all.
Does uploading or playing a MIDI file cost Credit?
No. MIDI uploads and anything loaded from MIDI Hub are always free, because the note data already exists and nothing has to be transcribed. Credit is only ever spent when Papiano has to transcribe audio or a TikTok link into notes for you.
What can I do with a song once I find it?
Open it in the Piano Visualizer to watch it play as falling notes, in Learn Song to practise it note by note at your own pace, or in the MIDI to QWERTY Sheet converter to get a text sheet you can play on your computer keyboard.
What should I not upload?
Anything you do not have the right to share, and anything that breaks the Community Guidelines — that covers the song files themselves as well as titles, tags, and comments. Reports are reviewed manually, and uploads that break the rules are removed.
