Yes. Every action needs a signed-in profile — creating a room, joining one, even opening the Players list.
Quick Join drops you straight into the first open public room with space, skipping the room list. If nothing qualifies, Papiano tells you no public rooms are open instead of making you wait.
Public rooms anyone can join directly from the list. Private rooms need a password you set at creation — the "Code" label on a private room just means "password required"; there's no separate shareable invite code.
Room names run up to 32 characters and capacity is 2–6 players (default 6). Only 15 rooms can exist across all of Papiano at once — Host Room shows "Rooms Full" at the cap. Each account can create a room once every 30 seconds and only owns one live room at a time; hosting again simply reopens yours.
Check that you haven't muted them from their profile panel. Player Volume/Mute there is personal — it only affects your own playback — so it's easy to forget it's set.
Everyone currently connected, sorted online-first. Switch the filter to see only your Friends list instead of everyone.
Switch Graphics Quality to Potato first — it's the single biggest performance lever. Then turn down or off Particles and Key Light glow, lower Reverb if audio feels sluggish, and keep any background-image Blur modest on older phones.
Yes. Web MIDI is a desktop-browser feature — use Chrome or Edge. Connect any MIDI controller and Papiano detects it automatically, with real velocity and sustain-pedal support. Plugging in before or after pressing the MIDI button both work, since hot-plugged devices are watched for.
23 built-in instruments across four categories: Piano (Concert Grand — the default — Yamaha Grand, Bright Grand, Soft Piano, Rhodes EP, Harpsichord), String (Violin, Cello, Strings, Slow Strings, Pizzicato), Orchestra (French Horns, Trumpet, Trombone, Flute, Timpani), and Other (guitars, bass, mallets, choir, organ).
