Note mode has an Interval sub-mode (a reference tone plus a test tone — guess the distance between them) and an Absolute sub-mode (one tone — guess the pitch by ear alone). Chord mode plays one chord — guess its quality (Major, minor 7th, and so on).
Beginner uses fewer, clearly distinct answer choices (3). Intermediate and Advanced use 4 choices drawn from a wider, closer-sounding pool — chords add 6th/7th/9th qualities at Intermediate and 11th/13th/altered qualities at Advanced.
